White water rapids in the South Pine!

Hey guys,

Went for a 'quiet fish' in the south pine, launching from Cash' Crossing.

Got there and it looked like it was flowing pretty fast, but it was a half an hour drive from home so I thought lets give it a go.

Poor choice...

The bit that is normally only an inch under water is now 6 foot deep and pumping! got fired out of the narrow bit after going over some rapids and pretty hectic white water. SOoo much fun!!

Fished for 3-4 hours and got 4 x 20-30cm bass. All released to fight another day.

Now to try and paddle back up the narrow bit to Cash's crossing..

Got 3/4 of the way up but got to a spot that was running way too fast. I was paddling flat out just to keep stationary, so made my way over to the bank and dragged the yak through the bush for a bit.

Had no choice to drag the kayak through some more water which turned out to be head deep. Good thing I had the life jacket on!

Bit of a mad swim across, and up the bank then im at the car : )

Thank f@ck for that!!

Lost a plugger during the swimming leg, but all in all a wicked days fishing/yakking : D

Hey Ryno,

With the amount of water that's been going down South Pine River you should have arranged for some one to pick you up at

the Hornibrook highway Bridge.

Reminds me of the "Solo man" (early TV add) going over the waterfall, can of solo in hand - in a yak...

alls well that ends well : D

Wasn't really that dangerous.

Worst that would have happened was getting fired back out into the calm bit and having to call a mate for a lift.

Where is your sense of adventure?
