I had some squid heads from my trip down south last week, so I didnt have to worry about collecting bait on the way out today, straight to my turf. The water on the south side of the port is clear and nice, but there is a break near the middle and it quickly turns olive green and murky again, but there were surface splashes so the fish obviously dont mind.
I didnt bother chasing them as they were moving pretty quickly inside the port. Once off Oak park, there was a whole lot more activity, and it just looked fishy as hell today. There were wind lines and current lines all over the place, and the fish were feeding at the edges of most of them. Casting at the splashes, I initially thought they were bonito, but after hooking one, it seems that they have been replaced by Frigates this week. Boy are they spritely once they come aboard.
After messing about with them for a while, I sent down a squid head which was knocked off straight away without a hookup. Next one down produced a rat mid 50s. And another.
A few boats had shown up by now, and it kind of p**sses me off when they see me into some fish and they come steaming right into where I am fishing. This is where I like to show them how it's done. Sure enough, a few minutes later and that Daiwa sealine ratchet sends out the siren, and this is a better fish. Not a monster by any means, but a legal king, quite skinny though. I left the boats to fish on, I had my prize.

I was only on the water for an hour and a half today, which was a nice change. I celebrated with a swim back at the beach, where the water was crystal clear.
Sashimi and sushi for lunch, it doesnt get much fresher than that!
