Forum rules
WARNING: Kayaking, and Kayak Fishing are DANGEROUS ACTIVIES, and present a number of inherent risks.

Participation in any events organised using the Fishing Trips section is entirely at your own risk. Neither the organising member(s), nor the administration team of the Australian Kayak Fishing Forum, can accept any reponsibility for loss, damage, injury or death arising from kayak fishing trips.

It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that they paddle and fish within their ability, and not to put themselves in harm’s way.

Even where safety suggestions are offered within the trips section, or elsewhere on the AKFF site, it is up to the individual kayaker to ensure that precautions appropriate to your trip circumstances are undertaken, and that all legal requirements of your state or territory are followed.

If you do not agree to these guidelines, please do not attend events organised in this section.

Post Administration & Reporting Posts

Postby RedPhoenix » Tue Nov 06, 2007 2:31 pm

The forum is certainly growing. With around 1600 members now, and hundreds of posts each and every day, it's almost impossible for even the most dedicated reader to keep on top of every post.

As such, the AKFF admin team divides up responsibilities across the forum; each member of the team is responsible for a subset of the site, and a lot of stuff happens behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly without anyone ever realising it. However, since the mods are amateur volunteers, with normal jobs, families (and of course, fishing to do!), there will be times when we miss stuff.

Luckily, AKFF is a fundamentally driven by it's members, and our new forum format gives everyone the capability to participate in the process of keeping topics on track.

One of the new features of the new AKFF forum, is the 'report a post' feature. You'll find it in the top right-hand corner of each post, and it looks like an exclamation mark:

Two.jpg
Report a post feature
Two.jpg (12.13 KiB) Viewed 42455 times

This post reporting feature gives you the ability to pseudo-anonymously (only the moderators have access to the report) highlight a particular post, for action by the administrative team.

Here's an example of it in action:
One.jpg
The original post. Watch out for that sockpuppet guy.

Lets assume that a forum member takes offence at the language that sockpuppet used in his/her post.
They'd click on the little 'notification' icon at the top of sockpuppets post.

A new window will pop up, asking for details:
Screenshot-AUSTRALIAN KAYAK FISHING FORUM • Report this post - Mozilla Firefox.png
Report this post

There are several options available from the drop-down box, including:

  • Profanity: The post contains inappropriate vulgar, abusive, racist, or sexist language.
  • Off-topic: The reported post is off topic.
  • Harassment: The post is designed to intimidate, or harass another user.
  • Commercial: The post is an unsolicited commercial post, contrary to AKFF policy.
  • Warez: The post contains links to illegal or pirated software.
  • Spam: The reported post has the only purpose to advertise for a website or another product.
  • Other: The reported post does not fit into any other category.

Once you click the submit button, the post will be marked for the attention of the moderation team.
It'll look something like this:

What the mods see (1)

Four.jpg
What the mods see (2)

Five.jpg
What the mods see (3)

Once the administration team have had a peek at the report, action of some sort will be taken. A few discussions may occur in the background, and the mods will close the report with an explanation of the actions which may have been taken. Action may include sending out a notification message to the original poster, along these lines:
Six.jpg
Notification issued

It may also include a temporary (days, weeks, etc) or permanent account ban.

The mods (Scott, Ken, Dave, Jason, and myself) encourage you to become familiar with, and use, this capability.
Of course, feel free to continue to tell people to pull their heads in on the board if you prefer, but this will really help us find posts that are tucked away in potentially hard-to-find threads, or may be considered borderline.

Excuse me mods but it appears there is something wrong with the reporting facility. I've reported a post twice over the last week or so for contraventions of the commercial user policy, yet have had no response. I note the relevant post is still sitting in the drafts section of the Commercial posts, and it hasn't yet been dealt with. Perhaps I have done something wrong, and you didn't get my reports. I can't bear to think you are just ignoring me. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Edit: The OP had been contacted re: our commercial policy at the time of your report. There has been no official commercial declaration from the OP so it has been now been deleted

Go to http://www.php.com, download forum software, find a tech genius and someone to host it, and Robert's your mother's brother.

Without wanting to rain on your parade, this is a kayak FISHING forum, so although your product is undoubtedly fabulous, it's not really our cup of tea. Even if it was, we have a commercial posts policy that it might do you well to read. It's here if you'd like to have a look. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=8080

If you have some noncommercial interest in kayak fishing you'd like to share with us, please feel free, we'd be delighted to hear from you. Further posts flogging your product will be summarily removed, or worse, we'll sic gra on you.

No need to convert, jpegs will upload. Or you could use a hosting site like photobucket.

Try here mate.
You can upload jpg to the forum, they just have to be below a certain size.
