it is not necessarilly the biggest Marlin,Sailfish,Pelagic that will win...but it did have to be a good catch and judges also took into effect method of capture and uniqueness.It all goes to a good cause.The local sea rescue and Game fishing club...Well after competing with entries in the Sailfish,Marlin,Cobia,Mackerel catches...I CAME OUT TOPS AS THE WINNER!!!..

"Well, I’m sure you’re all sick of hearing about billfish this year, so this week we’ll focus on other species, even though there have been masses of billfish about! There’s been small to large mahi mahi straight out from the lighthouse in about the 60-80m depths. One bull caught was estimated to be over 10kg, while other females in the area have been around the 3-5kg mark.
Northern salmon have been showing up at the marina and at Bundegi. A small soft plastic has been doing the trick with the salmon and a slow retrieve along the ocean floor works best. Catching them on fly is another method and good fun for beginners.
Lots of anglers have taken to the waters with the lobster season open. Some of the ornate lobsters are so big that you can’t get your hand around their back. Not to mention keep them under control! The best way to get the large ornate lobster is with a lobster snare. Make sure you have a catch bag handy as there is usually more than one about. Keeping the lobster alive as long as possible is recommended, as the flesh tends to rot once they die. There is a lot of meat in the head and legs and it is usually sweeter that the tail, so remember to make the most of your catch. The warm weather is another reason to go under the water fishing. This has resulted in a few coral trout, bluebone and rankin cod on dinner plates.
Steven Smith was kayaking off Pilgramunna with 10kg mono and a 40lb wire trace connected to a Rapala XrapSL12 in the blue sardine colour when a Spanish mackerel snavelled the lure. After a challenging tussle, Steve landed the Mackie which weighed 13kg! Steve is pictured this week with his great catch, and he managed to take the photo himself too! He has entered in the monthly fishing comp and up for the possibility of a gift voucher and $700 worth of Shimano gear.
A fly-fishing angler from Victoria had an awesome 4 days in Exmouth this week with Trueblue Bones when he caught bonefish, diamond trevally, permit, queenfish, golden trevally, gold spot trevally, long tail tuna, mack tuna and cast at 8 billfish. Plus he caught a 10 and 20kg wahoo! What an incredible time. The weather was amazing as well with every day glass. The glass conditions have been a welcome change for what most people call Blovember, as opposed to November!"
