Hi Guys!
I'm thinking of bringing the family down your way from Adelaide next year. We would be staying 4-5 weeks and can move around if necessary. Whilst it will be predominantly a family trip (wife and 6 and 7 year old girls) I will have the kayak in tow and intend on getting out a bit to enjoy the beautiful scenery your state has to offer, as well as the fishing.
Just wondering when the best time of the hear would be to come?
We have a 4wd and off road camper, and are not scared to use them. Plan on staying in some towns, but also bush camping in hopefully reasonable secluded locations (are fully self sufficient for up to a week) We dont want it to be so cold that the kids don't want to get out of bed in the morning, but also not too hot (which for us is 35+ degrees!) I wouldn't mind it if it was fairly mild weather to make the yakfishing more enjoyable (plan on getting a few free feeds from the yak). Wind is my number 1 enemy from many points of view - comfort with camping, fishing, kayaking, cold, dust/sand etc. Only thing it's good for from my perspective is flying a kite and I won't even be taking one! (and don't have a kayak sail!)
I was thinking maybe mid November to Mid December. Would there be snow on any mountain tops to take the girls to see at that time of year? Mild enough, not too cold?
Very interested in your thoughts as kayak fishers! And would love to catch up with some of you for a fish if at all possible when we go. The chance of catching a sea-run trout or atlantic salmon and slapping it on the hot coals on the campfire is making my mouth water already!
Cheers
Damien
