TYING FISHNUTS PRAWN FLY

Postby fishnut » Mon Mar 08, 2010 10:25 am

G'day Guys,
I've had a few requests for instructions on how to tie my prawn fly so here's a couple of little videos I made for the whole process. Hope you have fun with it.
Cheers Darren

CatfishKieth I have no idea how much they weigh as I've never weighed them.
By adding thicker lead wire you can put enough weight into them to throw them on an ultralight 2kg Bream outfit when they are tied on size 4 hooks. This I have done before ;-) .

Mate, that's a brilliant representation! One of the best I have seen.

Tie a smaller, bright pink version and you would have Bream all over it... 8)

Thanks Gundy,
I've heard that pink does well but whenever I've tried it on bream down here I haven't had any success. Might have to try it again ;-) . I tie them down to size 6 for Bream but any smaller than that and the fly becomes to busy.
Flea I might get you to have a crack with the flyrod soon ;-) I think you'd enjoy it.

Snapperz if your looking at getting into tying flies you best option is to buy a basic tying kit and start there. You can pick up a basic tying vise and tools in a kit form for about $100.00 from Pro Angler or Mo Tackle and other shops.

Thanks fishnut,I spent an hour or so last night looking for fly tying kits and I am seriously considering buying a kit and giving it a go.I didn't think to look at Motackle so will look into that as well. Thanks again.
