Scottie,
My MKI method of connecting the outrigger to the yak was the same as I have used currently. I did an old post on this about a year ago. The pvc pipe assembly goes into the rod holder. It can be secured with the bungie that is in the rear section of the Revo. Although I have found that this is not needed. I broke the assembly into two smaller bits for transport and think it makes assembly on the water quick & easy. I connect the out rigger arm to the bit in the rod holder with a pvc union. The connection to the out rigger is pvc pipe sliding over the white bits of pipe and secured with a bungie loops I put built into the elbows.
The out rigger was a factory second saved $15 …from Australis canoes $130. http://www.australiscanoes.com.au One outrigger from the Adventure is $495.
Recently I had the thing on the river during a very windy day and did not flip (came close) The wind was such that there is no way I would have tried the sail with out the outrigger.
No suggestions about getting a larger rudder I have one on my 2009 Revo. I wanted to see if the rig would be controllable with the standard rudder & it was.
If I continue playing with the design to create a bit of extra space on the side I will probably build the mounting & side tray out of 4 mm HDPE (chopping board)
I have an idea to make it double hinged so that I could bring the outrigger closer to the yak.
