August Fishing Comp - WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Re: August Fishing Comp - 1 AUG TO 9 AUG

Thanks to DAVO'S BAIT & TACKLE, it's time to score up the Fishing Comp and announce the lucky winners.

Looks like we've turned the corner on winter, and the snapper are starting to run in earnest, pretty much the whole way around the country! Of the 26 entries this month, 7 were for snapper (over 25%), and a relative lack of crap fish as well (with the exception of AJD and a 22cm wrasse, and Red and a 26cm diver whiting - at least Red didn't post the photo!)

HOF has had a great month as well, with 4 new entries, and a couple of people getting kicked back to being just regular, mortal fisherfolk. Oh well, them's the breaks.

So without further ado, this months winners are...

JOSHO with his 108cm Jewfish (in shorts, in winter) - 100 points for you
ASTRO with his 87cm Saltwater barra (probably also wearing shorts) - 90 points plus 20 points HOF 2nd
JOEJOE with his 81cm Queenfish - 80 points plus 10 points HOF 3rd
WAYNE D with his 56cm Bass - 70 points plus 20 points HOF equal 2nd
PHYSOPATH with his 39cm Luderick - 60 points plus 10 points HOF 3rd
BLAGGON with his 76cm Snapper - 50 points for you, good Sir!

Lucky Bugger Bonus Points are also hereby awarded to...

BLAGGON with his 76cm Snapper (Mystery length 76cm) - double points for you - total 100 points for the month
LAPSE with his 75cm Shovelnose (lucky letter L) - double points for you - total 60 points for the month
AWTY with his 74cm Snapper (lucky entry date 4th) - 50% points bonus for you! - total 45 points for the month.

And for the mystery draw - congratulations to RedPhoenix, Wongus, Astro & Marty75 - lucky winners of the AKFF Lucky Sock Drawer Dip. My lovely assistant, Davey G, will send you out a little something, and hopefully it's not a smelly old football sock either!

So still the same old names rattling around at the top of the leaderboard. JoeJoe has leapt clear with over a 100 point buffer - but as we've seen a couple of times this year, Lady Luck may still play a part! Word is T-Curve is getting mighty stroppy about getting shown up by his better half, and AWTY had better brace for a stiletto between the shoulder blades, as there are a few people gunning for his spot on the ladder.

4 months to go - what will happen I wonder?

Woohoo! Lucky door prize. :)

Just goes to show, that you don't have to enter a whopper to get something out of the competition!

Some terrific fish entered. Well done to the winners and thanks to AJD for entering a 22cm Wrasse (makes a 29cm mullet look reasonable !) ;-)

Andrew you're welcome. Mate I had to post the wrasse as these were the only other 2 fish caught out of 3 outings during the comp period!
