Very nice looking rod Lee, how did you get the silver streaks through the black wrapping? I just opened the parcel from mudhole with two Graphite USA blanks to build, don't worry not going to copy the wrap would just love to know how you did it.

Cheers dave

Thanks Lee, Do you buy locally or ship them in from the states?

I currently get everything from mudhole but I have been looking for a local supplier of cottons and glues that I can just run down to for the little things. Theres a few places that sell fly tying gear but the fly tying and regular sewing machine cottons have protective coatings or waxs that can muck up the finishing so I have been trying to avoid them.

Cheers Dave

Hey Dave, mate just get on Mudhole and blow a fast $50 on thread, you'll get everything you could ever want. "A" thread is like 2 bucks a reel, or you can buy a packaged selection of NCP for about $34. That stuff Lee has on Terry's rod is called "Trimar" thread, it's available from Mudhole as well.

not sure what brand colour preservers/thread sealer/epoxy you guys use but have found out the hard way not to use the cheapies :(
they can be fine for a few years but then start to yellow with age & destroy the look of a nice rod :(
have had good luck with the Gudebrod range but would steer clear of some others.
your probably well aware of this but thought i would make the comment incase it may help :D

Im getting keen looking at these great pieces of art .
Havent built my own rods for about 10 years ,back then it was blackfish rods & ugly stix blanks.
the quality of gear available today is amazing.
Cheers
