As long as the wind stops blowing.

I was down that way on sunday as the inlaws live in Gordon and boy was the wind blowing there, but come around into peppermint bay and dead calm. There was even someone kayak fishing the reef :o

Sounds like a good plan, if it is blowing up a bit we might head down to Peppermint Bay

I'd love to make it with such a big group of tassie yakkers getting together but I've got other commitments at this stage. If I'm lucky enough to get out of them I'll give you a call Blaen (unless you've changed number :) )

Hopefully I'll be down that way a bit the second half of March seeing if I can get my scallop mojo working.

The wind was nasty on the weekend. I was supposed to be crewing on a yacht for the Crown series regatta at BYC for the entire weekend. We pulled out due to lack of experienced crew and I'm glad we did.

Saturday was so nasty on the Derwent that less than half the boats turned up for the last days racing on the Sunday. Which from the sound of it wasn't much better. I heard of one broken mast and numerous injuries.

I've been out when it's like that and it's not a whole lot of fun.
At least I remember how to paddle, just need to work out how to fish.

Number is still the same mate, I hope to hear from you, mind you I don't get any coverage in Oyster Cove, oh so blissful :D

Hey Guys,
Would love to come out with you this weekend. Umm only issue is a kayak. Will try to get a loan (with the intention of not buying) a hobie from peter johnsons for the weekend. Unless of course it rocks in which case...I might buy it but the Pro Fish is looking like the money. Let you know when I know about getting one
Cheers, hopefully the weather is good ;)

Gday Deepsouth,

Mate, even if you just come down to say gday, have a shorebash and checkout the yaks, your welcome to a paddle of mine and no doubt the other fellas would be the same.

My little canoe/yak is ok for a lightweight, but wouldnt be that comfy for a bigger fella...it gets a bit tippy when loaded up. It did have a fair bit of that expanding foam in each end as floatation but most of it got chewed out by our old cockatoo  So I reckon it would sink if swamped, im just having second thoughts about loaning it out, the seat is built for me and I know what it can take and I dont think that bit of water down there is suited for a first time out in it. Sorry to offer it then take it back but ive thought about it and its not such a good idea, maybe if I fix the floatation issue but I would still feel responsible if anything were to happen. For a first time in it you would want nice flat water, ive had it out in a couple of foot of chop and its not much fun and that can happen anytime in those bigger bays down there.

latest forcast is 18....maybe bring a beanie and sunblock 8) 8)

Cheers

Like Baldy said mate come on down and bomb around on the rocks, you'll get our attention sooner or later and you could get to try out a few different yaks.
Cheers
