I like the look of these but don't know much about them.
I'm wondering how it would go if it gets choppy out in the bay.
I reckon it will be sable cause it's 83cm wide but the rest of it's performance I have no idea.
Thanks for any info.

Where exactly are you thinking of taking this?

Mainly rivers , creeks and bay when the weather is nice.
I have a bigger yack also which I mainly use in the bay but the ebay yack would be for short trips where I can just put it inside the 4x4 and off I go.
I'm just wondering if it would handle a bit of rough stuff if the weather turns out in the bay.
thanks.

Rivers and creeks it should be fine. I use something like that from time to time and provided I stick to ideal conditions, not too much river flow, no chop or wind, then it's ok. But even on a good day, if you head out offshore, stay close in on the chance it might worsen suddenly.

Your first few trips will tell you soon enough what you and the yak can handle.

Thanks Eric.
Yeah these little yaks seem to be flooding the market atm and from the limited info I have found their hulls are molded from the same shape as the mini x which is meant to be a top little performer.
If you look at a picture of the mini x it does look very very similar to one of these little ebay yaks but I haven't seen them together in the flesh so I'm not a 100% sure.

It will get you on the water well enough (my first yak had fairly similar specs), but keep an eye on the final price (probably around $500 bare I reckon). There a lots of them out there some quite a bit cheaper than that.

I agree and I would do a bit more bargain hunting for a better price , I just put that link up as an example.

And if you are over 85 kg's then I'd look elsewhere. They aren't that well balanced so go tail down with a bit of weight. They also track terribly.

Thanks Clarkos.
I think I better look else where as I'm on the wrong side of 100kg.
The funny thing is they rate it to 150kg.

Hey Gozz, yeah i have one of these. not the best yak in the world but it gets me on the water and out of nappy duty

i got mine for $400 with paddle and seat, though last time i saw his store they were more like $600 for the same thing (ebay store:mala_kayaks).

when loaded up with a DIY live tank in the back (so and extra 20 liters) it felt pretty crappy and i'm guessing thats the balance issue Clarkos would be talking of.

when the budget allows i'll be looking for something that will handle some offshore work too. good luck!
