Hobie Oasis

Nothing to review and no photos yet but have now got my new toy so will be aiming to get out and catch some fish again shortly. Only issue is I have no money left for a sounder etc so will fish the old fashioned way (no, not with tnt!)

Can already tell you, IMO rides very much like the revo but longer, a nice feel, stable enough and fast enough with two people, waiting for my turbo fins to see how well it goes with one person. I don't think there is quite enough storage room but I can live with that.

Very nice.. how does it handle surf launches? Were you riding one up or solo?

Re surf launches, not a clue yet, the beach I was launching from is inside a harbour. I had another person, will try it solo in a few weeks but dont think it will be much of a problem as Im only 70 something kilos

Congrats, they are a nice yak. I've had mine out over 60 times since I've bought it and have no complaints bar... they need a bit of weight in the front to ride better if you are solo, otherwise you are doing a permanent wheelie all day long. A stealth serpent slots in well also. The added weight of the 120 amp battery brings the front end down nicely. I'm sure that you will love your new toy.

Not sure about the motor though, sort of feels like I may as well be in a boat, still I suppose it is a good option for a long trip when the legs give up.

I've done a 31km trip when It's fitted in my Adventure hull, and at a guess, the Oasis will give me about 20. That's all at the top setting.

Good one Mrfaulty, I have to agree because I have one myself, they sure are a nice Yak. I usually take my motor if I go out solo and the battery goes up front so ballasts the nose down a bit. Turbo Fins are a big plus too, much nicer to peddle with.

Slip a tent pole on for a long throttle to the back seat and it fits between the peddles.

Hi Mr Faulty,

one question about the oasis, how do you transport it, it looks like a long yak, the wind does not get under it if it is carried on roofracks?

thanks

I transport mine on a small hatchback with roof racks without any dramas. Front tie-down to avoid accidents on the highway. You generally want another set of hands to load/unload but at a pinch it can be done by one person alone. Awesome yak, would definitely recommend it.

Adam.

as Stippy said, tie downs and a front and back rope and its all good. I get mine on and off the car myself but then Im good and strong - or maybe after dropping it a couple of times I figured the balance point lol. Im seriously thinking of mounting an extra set of handles in the middle (from a weight perspective so this might be slightly off centre) to help get it on and off the car
