Kayak camping gear setup

Postby TheFishinMusician » Thu Apr 26, 2012 9:59 am

Hi gang, just thought I'd put up a vid of my kayak camping setup & how I pack it in the yak.
Hope it's of use to someone.
Enjoy.

Cheers, Mark.

You are sooo organized and neat. Does it upset you when the other guys touch your stuff and are messy around the camp?.....Neat Freak!
I just tip everything inside the hatch and just shove it in some how.

BTW the music was making me nauseous so I had to turn the sound down.

Nice one Mark, I reckon there's room for an emu in there

Some good ideas there, very educational. I've done a bit of both bush walking and 4wd camping, so I have a mix of gear suitable for either. Yak camping is in between the two. You can take more than will fit on your back, but the folding camp tables and 3 way fridge will have to stay home. I haven't gone yak camping yet, but I'm planning some leave in a month or so, so a two nighter might be in the plan.

I will need to invest in a few more dry bags I can see.
Water lapping against the hull, warm gentle breeze, fish straining on the line... how much sick leave do I have?

Thanks goanywhere,
Yep the more drybags the better. My big yellow deck bag got a small amount of water in it this weekend but everything inside it was in another drybag so it didn't matter really. The more bags you have just makes it easier to pack stuff.
Cheers, Mark.

Has anyone put hatches on their outriggers so they can carry more gear?

My outriggers aren't big enough, but I have seen them on larger outriggers.
