Im a beginner here! Sheesh! :)

Hi fishing family, hope your all well and smiling. Im new to the site and this is my first time posting this message. My brother has kindly given me a big grteen fishing kayak to fang around on and im trying to get out on the big blue to get into some of the larger fish here on the gold coast. Im based at Mermaid Waters and have been travelling the canals and getting used to the beast! Recently i got a what ive been told to be a golden trevally 3.6 kg. What a blast!!! Light gear, 8 lb line (mono) no leader or trace, an el-cheapo rod my 8year old son uses, and a half decent reel although quiet old (15 years to be pedantic). It took close to 15 minutes to get to the side of the kayak, and i got to use my new tiny gaff to get him on board (first fish needing a gaff for me). Got the beautiful fish on a soft plastic lure! Another first for myself (a fish on soft plastic). Herring type lure from good old Kmart!!! Up at the Markeri street bridge around 10.45am broad daylight. A total life changing experience for me! A few nights ago i went out for some night fishing in the canals around my local area. 15 Bream in several hours. Just something to do! Geez there's some large animals in them there canals yeah!!! Have a good one yeah! Enjoy

Afternoon family!
Thanks for the warm welcome! I got more replies on here in 1 week than i have on 4 or 5 dating sites :) Yep! Im either really %&()!@#% ugly or just a friendly fisherman! I'll wager it's the former! :) Havent been out again! Due to my shocking state of affairs! Shit!!! All i want to do is catch fish! Is that too much to ask! :) During my layoff I went to cash converters and traded in one of my beach rods for an ugly stick. 5"9' length, 10-15kg line carry. Never had one before so a wee bit new to the bigger fish game. I have put my beach spinning reel on the uglystick so i'm ready to go outside (beach launch) as soon as my health improves.
Would really love to get down to Palm beach and meet some of the you friendly fisho's down there! (every time im on the phone to my brother he keeps saying "Check out what the Palmy crew have been catching") It's a bloody long paddle though! Dont think they'll let me take my big green juggernaut on the bus! :) Keep up the great work family!!! Til next time

Definitely some big fish in those Gold Coast canals, biggest Tailor and Jacks I've ever seen have come out of them.
