I will have to be a late cancellation. I recently bought a new truck and started a new contract so I had better not take days off yet. Will try and make the next trip and on the plus I should be able to afford a stack of new fishing gear by then. HMMM maybe even a new yak......

Woohoo!!!

The planets have aligned and I will be able to get away on Friday until Sunday. Is there still room for a late starter? My current plan is to leave ctp sometime around high water on Friday and leave the bar at low water on Sunday. Am a bit concerned about vehicle security but have no way of doing the "horizon shuffle" so will just have to secure vehicle, remove valuables and hope for the best...

Will be great to catch up with everyone and will try to rustle up a reasonable single malt for the tastings. The tarpon is already looking a bit overloaded so might have to use scotch for cooking, cleaning teeth etc...

Getting excited!!!

CU There!

No problem at all. I've also left my car overnight at CTP on the grass up against the shop and no problems to date. If you wish you can just paddle from Horizon Shores, it adds about 1k to the trip if that. There'll be others on Sunday paddling back to HS.

I'm keen to come along for a couple of nights if that's ok? I live on Macleay Island and will be heading down on my brand new (bought today) AI - has anyone done this trip and what route would you take? I'm going to post in the main forum too for some advice on this as I have some other questions about the new AI from today's maiden voyage.

Hi Huwie, again more than welcome to come along. As to which way you head down, heading down the western side of Russell Island looks the easiest and most direct. Then either swing east under Russell and down Canaipa Passage or continue south and come over the top of Tabby Tabby and then follow the main channel east. At the bottom end of the bay the flood tide moves south but at some point meets the flood tide coming in from Jumpinpin. If you have the predicted northerlies with you, tides won't matter. Otherwise maybe leave an hour or so before the local high and look to arrive at the camp after the tide has turned and heading out. The last 1k heading south to the campsite would be the only hard bit. If you continued down the west side of Tabby Tabby and then swung under the south side of Eden Island (see the map link I put up earlier) then you'd have the tide with you all the way.

Who's bringing firewood? I can get 20kg from Bunnings and we can split it up for the trip down if that suits.

I can carry some wood too (Lapse offered). Also bringing an AI. I'm leaving about midday Friday from CTP.

I will grab a bag of wood from bunnings, and throw it on a tramp. I have decided I will probably just leave my car at cabbage tree point afterall, so I can grab any other firewood people are struggling to carry.

are you sailling now trev?

Final sorting of gear in progress. :D Sort of doing a trial pack, hope it all fits tomorrow.

The prediction on Seabreeze for the wind is getting better especially for Sat' and Sun. Looking good.

I'm scouring the interet for cheap dry bags in Brisbane. Anaconda so far...

I cut a little bit of firewood this afternoon.

Hopefully I can find room in the yak for it tomorrow.
