Temporary site lockdown

Postby RedPhoenix » Sun Apr 19, 2009 6:47 pm

Hi guys,

Sometime in the next week, the site is likely to go into a temporary lockdown while we migrate to a new hosting environment.

Once we make the switch, there will be a period of around a few hours (depending on your internet service provider), where users will gradually switch over from the old hosting environment, to the new one. The old site will be read-only, and won't accept new posts.

Everything will look identical (avatars, posts, etc) on the new site - though, we may alter the logo on the new one temporarilly, so that you know you've been migrated over.

Basically, this is a technical change only - you won't have to do anything - the same old links will work; we'll switch over to a new infrastructure that should be more friendly to our bandwidth/cpu/etc requirements.

...all I wanted was a red Porsche.

And my mate, who wanted a red car with a horse on it, got this:

7 posts in this thread, 6 of them off-topic.

Just how far OFF the rails can we send this thread?

(...and yes, that is a challenge)

Not a patch on the originals.
