Only one more week of mudsuckers to go, then it's back to the wild blue yonder. I'm still in a world of pain so far this month after a doughnut (enterable species) today. I can feel another trip to the soup coming up later in the week.

Like the 10 entry idea, makes it possible to compete even if you can't get out there for a month. More points for NSW snapper, less for trevs, redfin & snook, special bonus prizes for banjos (I got one today). I think the 3 entries per species is good even though it puts me well out of my comfort zone, it has meant that I've done a few interesting trips I wouldn't have done (& gives Tom the opportunity to take the piss mercilessly).

Thought the comp was a great format - loved the prize sun hat. Like the three species limit, otherwise I would have entered Sambo's all year. Agree with the ten best entries suggestion (or 9) allows more people to stay in the comp. More points for Hairtail I reckon. Maybe an 'ugliest fish of the month' (as opposed to ugliest kayaker).

Enjoyed the monthly comp. Maybe a max of 4 per species would be better than 3. Although it got me doing some diferent trips to target different species, which is a good thing.

Not sure about the 10 best fish thing(if I read it right). Does that mean someone could have one or two great sessions, photo them all and just enter them for a whole year?
In this case maybe your best 3 or 4 fish, over three(three 4month sessions sessions) of the year, or something similar... or not

I'd second the call to make the comp period a little longer each month.... it's not always so easy to get the weather, social calendar and work commitments all aligning in an 8 day window, and then catch a decent fish on top of that. Regardless, bring on 2011 and my first attempt at challenging (the bottom half of) the table.
cheers,
