Tale of Woe:
Weekend 6/7 Feb: High winds, high waves and deluge. Set alarm for 4am Sat & Sun, looked outside, and scurried off to bed.
Weekend 13/14 Feb: Even bigger deluge, but went out anyway. Hooked up to 3 monster kings, and was smoked each time.

(BTW: Great entry Stephen, conrats, but I think you cheated on the brag mat. Rules: “Measurement will be from the tip of the head to the tip of the tail, with the fish in a natural position.” You have obviously stretched the tail to get that extra cm.)

Drum roll please!

Thanks to Viking Kayaks (our major prize sponsor) - it's time to announce the results from the February Fishing Comp.

As always, we've had some great fish entered, and the competition is shaping up to be extremely tight. Entries of note include YakN00b's 1.2 metre GT, a 75.5cm QLD snapper from AWTY, and Gatesy bursting onto the blocks with a phat 56.5cm salmon from his own stomping grounds.

The scoring is still giving me heart palpatations.. but the numbers are interesting - enough to give an accountant a warm and fuzzy feeling somewhere where there shouldn't be one!

So, without further ado, the Top 5 fish for the month were:

YakN00b 179 points - Giant Trevally
AWTY 148 points - Snapper
Stitcho 130 points - Grassy Sweetlip
Swamp 111 points - Shark
Gatesy 110 points - Salmon

Mystery Prize Winners for the month are: AJD, Ronston and TopGunPete. Congrats folks - usual drill, PM me your full name and address, and we'll send you something out of Davey's Krap Korner.

Thanks all - see you next month!

I should be whinging about the unfairness of putting a 50cm trashfish (salmon) over a 77cm harbour caught kingie (gatesy, go home and brag to the czechs about catching the aussie equivalent of a lamprey!), but in reality I think the new scoring system really works.

First of all, when have we had such amazing closeness despite all of the different species caught?

Second, strategy. I had a 35cm bream this month that would have sligthly increased my points, but I am pretty sure I'll catch more bream later in the season than kingfish.

Of course, Gatesy will be reduced to catching a nasty northern european cold by then - so I have that going for me.

Good job Lefty - congratulations to the winners!
