For Sale feedback sticky?

Postby mustrumr » Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:59 pm

Just a thought. I've just received the bream lures I bought from Itchyant through the For Sale section. I was really happy with the whole deal - the lures arrived quickly and were exactly as described, and dealing with Anthony was an easy and pleasant experience.

I've put a little comment to that effect on the original thread, but it will drop off when the thread gets culled. How about setting up a sticky thread, where people can post their experience of buying from a particular member (good or bad). That way people could get an idea of the seller's past record, which might give more confidence in whether to buy or not. I must admit that I was a little hesitant about sending money for gear sight unseen, to someone I don't know except as a regular poster on the forum - some sort of feedback thread would help, don't you think?

Cheers,
Alec

Interesting idea.

I think I would support positive comments only, I'm not sure about having a place where negative comments can be posted about people - there will always be two sides to a story, and how do you determine who is telling the truth if there is a dispute?

I can imagine the headaches for the mod team that would create

Alec, the For Sale section is likely to be rarely used by any particular member to give enough data to have a sellers past record.

I have also bought from the Sale forum and think personal research of the selling member should suffice mate....I feel there will be very few rogues among AKFFers [if any] and regular reading of a members posts gives a good feel to the seller, and if in any doubt just practice 'Buyer Beware' as normal.

Just for the record, in the 3 years the section has been running we've only had a handful of complaints, and only one case that we're aware of where the buyer 'did' their money. All other complaints have been amicably resolved with the help of the mod team, and any issues that are beyond our help get reported to the police as fraud and it is dealt with as a criminal case by them.

Hence the reason we implemented a minimum 50 post/3 month limit on members posting for sale items - this seems to have really reduced the dodgy / spam factor..

Good to see that AKFF members are doing the right thing and happily buying and selling!

Fair enough - I can see that it could create problems.
