Easy transducer install?

Just came across this interesting clip http://jckf-forum.forumotion.net/t407-e ... episode-32 which shows electrical putty being used for a transducer install. 've never heard of this stuff before. Anyone else used it? Did it work? Where would you buy it?

I came across a similar utube clip a few weeks ago. This one had a lot more detail. Seems that the putty maybe hard to find in Australia. I will find the clip and put it up later for you.

Might look it up. I installed my new sounder tranny with sikiflex and so far all I get for fish is shapeless blobs, no fish arches. I haven't played with the sensitivity yet, but I might be looking at reinstalling it. A wet install is probably what I will end up with. With this duct seal stuff it would make it easy. I was thinking of using a small plastic container, cutting the bottom off and sealing the edges with either this duct seal or sikiflex and sealing the lid after fitting the cable through it, then the water could be permanent and never leak. You could use fresh water and even store it upside down without ever needing to replace it unless the water went 'off' somehow, which I doubt.

Anyone else done something like this?

It's interesting this method hasn't come up here before (at least to my knowledge) as it seems so simple and effective. I still don't see how it works without the water however, as shown in the first videos. Air bubbles have always been an issue with sicaflex and silicon installs so it seem strange it isn't with this stuff.

Looks a whole lot easier than using the silicon type glues. A lot less messier too.

For anybody that is interested in trying this "Duct Seal" I did a search and found it via Rexel (http://www.rexel.com.au/products/search?q=duct+seal) haven't bought it yet.

Thanks Sel - the closest I've been able to find is a Bostik product... but I do have a mate, who's an air conditioning engineer, so I'm going to see if he can track some down for me; I think this: http://www.bostik.com.au/industry-produ ... 0-g-0.html is the product itself...
